The Wait is OVER!

Present:Reflections is a commissioned E.P. of meditative, ambient, soundscapes.  Gorgeous, tiny, epic, vast, deep and sublime worlds of sound.

…they are so beautiful.  ;-)

Each track was created in my home studio using: a cello, an acoustic guitar, and a single loop pedal.  There is minimal processing and there are no electronic instruments whatsoever.  Rather than constructing them like regular pieces of music, I let the feeling of presence be north star of each track.  All the sounds followed and developed organically from that point.

The EP is available right now in a choice of 2 different formats.

The first is the Regular E.P. which contains: 4 tracks (of roughly 5 mins each) and the front and back cover.

And the second is the Deluxe E.P.  As well as the 4 original tracks, the Deluxe EP boasts: one completely new track, and 3 extended 11 min ‘angel edits’ (all of which add up to a whopping 40 extra minutes of music!)  With this version you will also get a bonus PDF booklet containing a selection of alternate cover artwork.

Both are available right now for minimum payments of £2 or £3 respectively (if you are in the US that’s about: $3.50 and $5.)

For this release I am partnering with a charity called VSN (Volunteer Services Nepal.)  10% of all profits from Present:Reflections will go towards: feeding, housing, clothing, and educating, orphaned children in Nepal.  What that really means is: when you buy this music, you are literally making the world a better place. ;-)

The E.P. is available exclusively from Bandcamp. It wont be available to stream, or from iTunes, or from anywhere else for that matter.

This is a somewhat experimental release and, in that spirit, I’d like to ask you for your help with it.  There are two things you can do (apart from buying the EP of course) that would be ultra-helpful.

The first thing is to: SHARE SHARE SHARE (and then SHARE some more.)  I am only one man, so anything you can do to help me spread the word about this E.P. and it’s flagrant goodness is worth it’s weight in gold to me and will be endlessly and massively appreciated.

The second thing is, if you do buy the EP then let me know what you think of it.  You can do this either: in the comments section below, or by tweeting @JamesRadcliffe and using the hashtag #PresentReflections  (I’ll be ReTweeting the best ones.)

Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for your support in this and everything else.  I look forward to connecting with you and hearing your thoughts about Present:Reflections.

Let’s do this.

  1. Well, Mr. Radcliffe, I really love all those positive posts from coming in from all your admirers. Even though I have not had the pleasure of allowing my ears to partake in your musical genius, I am curious enough to make that a reality. I look forward to experiencing your spiritual generosity in the form of music. Also, thank you for liking my post . . . very much appreciated newly-acquired friend! I will let you know about my experience. My passion is words and their impact on the mind, body, soul and spirit. We all can share the blessings!

    1. Hey there,
First thanks for stopping by, and for taking the time to write this to me, I really appreciate it.
I am also a rabid fan of words and their impact.
I look forward to hearing what you think of my music, and am very glad to meet you,
      Keep up the good work,
      – J

  2. James, I don’t know what possessed you to find me, but it looks like our connection is Nepal. At least for the moment. I listened to Invocation. It’s exactly the kind of music that stirs me and you captured, by my count, at least the flavors of three different cultures there. That is a beautiful skill, a great story and you are making our world go round.

Thanks for finding me finding you.

    1. It was indeed the Nepal connection thru the charity that I support thru my art.
I am glad you were into the track, and I am curious: which 3 cultures?
Your words are very kind, best of luck to you in all you do.

      1. James, sorry I missed this response for a week. I listened to Invocation again and heard fleeting references to Tibetan horns in the low cello notes, a moment of North African flavor and maybe a little New Age Celtic….or maybe it just reminded me of Afro-Celt. But even if it wasn’t deliberate, you are plucking the resonant strings in many hearts. Nicely done.

  4. I must apologise for being so late, but a huge congratulations, James. Beautiful description of the record, and I’m sure the songs themselves will be even better. xx

    1. No apology needed ;-)
Thankyou very much, I am really happy with this one, and a lot of exciting stuff is happening because of it. ;-)
Please let me know what you think of the pieces, I’d be really curious.
Hope your day is great – you have brightened mine for sure. ;-)

  5. Though I purchased this simply mesmerizing recording days ago, and though traditionally I am one of the first to provide my thoughts on James’ new releases, “Present: Reflections” insists…no DEMANDS…to be lived over and over again. It’s not merely a listening and emotional experience, but an immersive journey into one’s own soul. One becomes aswim in its depths and layers of simplicity, though experience it as a complex and thoroughly engaging meditation in fluid notes and tones. Like subconscious thoughts and dreams, I do believe he has outdone himself…a very fine accomplishment indeed.

  6. Hey James! Congrats getting this out! I’m so looking forward to hearing it. I will probably get it online anyway but wondering if there is a CD yet? I much prefer to hold the thing in my hand, contemplate the picture on the cover, look at the listing and any blurb the artist provides, and of course add it to my collection because one day when you are rich and famous I will be able to sell the CD for an astronomical price “I knew him!” Cheers! Tony

    1. You are so sweet Tony ;-)
There is no CD of this release I am afraid. But please let me know what you think of it should you get it. Looking at your artwork, I think that you’ll get it. I would be really interested in your thoughts.
      – J
PS – The Deluxe version comes with a PDF of alternate art pieces for the cover, an opinion on these would also be welcome. ;-)
      Have a great day!

      1. Hi, James, I listened to the first four tracks during a break at work this morning and thought the textures were absolutely marvelous. I really wish we had this music when we were unbelievably stressed a few years ago, i would have put it on every night before going to bed to remind us that there is something important beyond our everyday worries and cares. This is meditation music that I can work with. On the other hand, if you don’t mind my making a humble suggestion, I would love to hear your music built with a slightly formal structure; e.g. statement, development, tension, building to a crisis, and then lysis and resolution, if you know what I mean. That’s for the future perhaps. Meanwhile I shall get this release, immerse myself in it, listen to it carefully, and look forward to seeing the artworks. What a great idea to put them together. Have a beautiful Easter, mate. Spring in Scotland – how wonderful! Cheers, Tony

        1. That is a quite beautiful review, I can’t wait to hear what you think of the visuals!
The next release will definitely have more of a formal structure – you are absolutely right in that, these pieces were made to be more textural in nature.
I love the fact that this music calms you, the making of each of them was a very present and peaceful process, and I was wondering if that would carry thru.
Great to hear from you my friend, more power to you!
          – J

  7. So happy for you, you have been working hard. Is this a single, that will go with “Invocation” & other songs. I hope take some R&R for yourself.  I’m not sure this goes to your direct Email, but I happily received “I” yesterday, I’m going to listen again & give my review. Wanted to TY for the sweetest note, that you wrote. Sorry to make you upset, I wanted to ask how you sent my mail, so could figure how long it would be. Royal pain, & I don’t think anything, other than really enjoy talking & getting to know you. GM/GN with forgiveness in your kind heart, I hope it will be alright.

  8. freaking awesome…congrats…now for a laugh, I use my phone exclusively for my blog and there is not a continuous string of posts from people I follow…all four of you…I had to google you because apparently I’m affected…
