‘Invocation’ will be released in 2 days time.

Before it drops into the world, I want to give you a little peek behind the curtain.  I want to give you the opportunity to learn a little about how the track came to be, how it was recorded, and how I construct my music in the studio.

So I made my first video blog. ;-)

And just before we get to it, I want to say another huge: ‘Thankyou‘.

This time to absolutely everyone who listened and got in touch to tell me what they thought of the fragment of ‘Invocation’ that I posted in the last blog.

There were some incredibly beautiful and evocative interpretations, massive amounts of positive feedback, and at least one offer to choreograph something to the finished piece…

So now, without further ado I’d like to present to you: a video of me in the studio.  (And, if you watch thru to the very end there is a brand new fragment of ‘Invocation’…)

‘Invocation’ is out on Fri 21 of Nov and it will be available for download from all the usual places.  And if you are one of the hardcore people who have been following along with me, I want to offer you something extra special as a Thankyou for all your support.

If you download the track from: jamesradcliffemusic.com in the FIRST WEEK of release, I am going to give you: my entire first album (worth £5) as a bonus.  ABSOLUTELY FREE.  ;-)

(Note: this is only if you get it from: jamesradcliffemusic.com and only if you get it in the first week. OK?)

What did you think of the video?  Let me know what you liked about it / anything you’d like to see in future – if enough people like it I’ll maybe do more.  You can tweet @JamesRadcliffe, email me thru the ‘Contact‘ page, or hit me up in the comments.

2 days, people.  And then: Release.

Glorious, Glorious, Release. ;-)

  1. Wow again! My eyes closed without my wanting as soon as the cello sounded. It closed every time you played it and the sound of your voice opened my eyes and brought me back. Such a lovely video and great to see the man behind the amazing talent! This makes for a tantalizing dance and movement in a semi dark room with spotlights of fog and semi bright lights. Your voice in the song reminds me of a beautiful haunting chant, yes haunting is positive me for me. Its so mysterious!! It will be a great active meditation piece too! Looking forward to the finished product. Congrats and all levels of success!

Thankyou Very very Much, Ynav. These are some beautiful words you have sent my way.
Super glad you liked the video – makes me happy *breathes out happily*. ;-)
If you do end up doing any movement at all to the piece, and happened to be near a video camera… I would LOVE to see it.
Really good to hear from you, hope you have a great day,
      See you soon,

  3. Sooo glad I stayed awake to read and watch this! Thanks for the mention, btw ;)

It’s great to get an insight into your creation process, not too dissimilar to that of a dance maker. Finding phrases that ‘work’ and somehow getting them all to blend together.

That was a very tantalising musical reveal at the end there, I like it. Very much!

    1. You stayed awake for it? That is So COOL! ;-)
Now, I am doubly glad that you liked it. And I completely agree, I think that genres of art, at least much of the time, can be pretty much arbitrary. I’ve always found that (at least for me) the artistic process remains fairly consistent across disciplines.
Thanks so much for your words, you made me BEAM. I really can’t wait to hear what you think of the whole thing.
      Sleep well,

      1. Haha ;) I did that dangerous thing of logging on to Twitter before shutting everything down for the night and saw your tweets about it being posted soon ;)

I think the process of creating soulful art, that which comes from the deepest recesses of mind and body, probably is the same across all disciplines. We have this something that needs to be given life, and we almost give ourselves up to it as we let it breathe! I do know so many choreographers etc who go into the studio fixed on the process of creating within pre-defined boxes. But I guess they have to, though, when the life of their creations depends so much on securing funding/backers/sponsors etc.

Hehe, glad my comment could give you a moment of happiness :)

        1 day to go!!

        1. I totally do that too. Twitter is the queen of Rabbit Holes. ;-)
Your comments totally made me happy and are greatly appreciated. You are right, when you mix funding in, in can become a little squirly if you are not careful. Maybe that’s why I’m an independent so far… ;-)
Really enjoying speaking to you, thanks a lot for making the connection,
Hope your day is treating you well,
          And that you are Dancing,
          See you soon,
          – J
